2022 Modern Liturgical Calendar
The Catholic Church has created a beautiful rhythm to carry us through the “Year of Our Lord’s Favor.” Unlike the secular calendar, which only marks the passage of time, the Catholic liturgical year celebrates the sacred mysteries of Jesus’ life.
By celebrating liturgical seasons at home, we can experience the full "mystery of Christ from Incarnation and Nativity through his Ascension, to Pentecost and the expectation of the blessed hope of the coming of the Lord.” (Catechism 1194)
We are excited to once again share this visual reminder of the liturgical year!
As a Catholic convert and new to the idea of liturgical seasons, I was inspired to create modern calendars to help me, my family, and other families navigate the wealth of daily resources available through the Church. OUr calendar includes:
-
Seasonal liturgical colors are noted in color around the outer rim of the circle.
-
Holydays of obligation and other special feast days are noted near the center of the circle.
-
A select list of feast days are outlined at the bottom of the poster.
About the colors on the liturgical calendar
-
Purple - Penitence and Preparing
-
White - Joy and Celebration
-
Green - Growth and New Life
-
Red - Fire and Passion
By choosing to live the Christian liturgical year we are offered a chance to encounter the Lord personally, which in turn can be an outward expression of faith to others.
