In the Catholic Church's liturgical calendar for February, the month of the Holy Family, we get to celebrate several important feast days!
On February 2nd, the Church observes the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas Day, commemorating the presentation of Jesus at the temple and the purification of Mary. Candles are often blessed, which is why it is called Candlemas. This day is significant as it marks the end of the Christmas season, as we move even closer to the Lenten season.
Additionally, on February 11th, the Church celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, honoring the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes, France. This feast is particularly meaningful as it emphasizes the Blessed Mother's loving presence and many miraculous healings.
These special feasts in February, provide opportunities for the faithful to strengthen our spiritual journey and reflect on the significant events and figures in the Catholic faith.
We hope this liturgical calendar download provides a resource that will inspire prayer and deeper devotion for you and your family.
