September 2023 Liturgical Calendar

This month as we slow down from the busyness of summer and switch gears to a more regular schedule, let’s give ourselves time to ponder Mary’s sorrow and humility of heart.

“Her children stand up and proclaim her blessed, and her husband joins them in praising her: ‘Many are the women who have done admirable things, but you outdo them all.’”

 Proverbs 31:28-29

Could you imagine such words being spoken to you?

It’s hard to believe a woman would be on anything but cloud nine after receiving such praise from her family for upholding a servant’s heart.

I believe at the core of God’s will for us is a pursuit of selfless love and servitude that, in turn, drives feminine productivity and a strength to continue in the midst of life’s daily struggles.

As we meditate on the sorrows of Mary, let’s pray that we may also receive special graces as promised to St. Brigit of Sweden, and in time emulate her strength and humility. This resource from Catholic Mom.com is very helpful in facilitating mediation.
