What are Sacramentals?

Why do Catholic use Sacramentals?
Sacramentals hold a special place in my spiritual life. These are the special objects or actions used by the Catholic Church, and the laity, to help us grow in our faith and connect with God. They're like little reminders of God's presence and love in our lives.
Because, if we’re homest, we all need concrete reminders sometimes to help us feel closer to God, and that's where sacramentals come in!
They can take all sorts of forms, like blessed medals, scapulars, holy water, rosaries, crucifixes, candles, and religious images. These items have been blessed by a priest, which means they've been set apart for a sacred purpose. When we use or have these sacramentals with us, it's a way of inviting God's grace into our lives.
For example, when I hold a blessed medal or wear a scapular, it's not just a piece of jewelry or cloth. It carries a sacredness, having been blessed by a priest, and serves as a symbol of my faith and devotion. It's a personal reminder that God is always with me, guiding and protecting me.
I find comfort in the presence of sacramentals like candles, crucifixes, and religious images. They create an atmosphere of reverence and remind me of the sacredness of the divine. These objects serve as visual reminders of the love, sacrifice, and teachings of Jesus and the saints.
Using sacramentals isn't about superstition or magical thinking. It's about incorporating physical elements into the spiritual journey. Some people find them very meaningful and incorporate them into their daily prayers and routines, while others may not use them as often. It's all about finding what works for you and helps you grow closer to God!
