Finding Beauty in Ourselves

I saved the toughest one for last - today, we will seek to find beauty in ourselves.

These two Bible passages reveal the true nature of God’s thoughts about us, the height of His creation - He values you so much, He ingrained His beauty in you.

Because we know that not only would the Good Shepherd go after you if you were lost, He would also - and did - die for you to save you.

You are so valuable that He has counted all of the hairs on your head. He can do that because He created you, which means He knows you so intimately that He knows all of the not-so-beautiful parts of yourself - and yet finds beauty in you.

We all want to reflect God’s beauty in the world, for people to see Christ when they see us - but that first involves seeing Him in ourselves.

A Final Word:

Well, my friend, we have come to the end of our retreat journey together. I pray that the challenges, reflections, and examen were like lifting a veil, revealing the truth of God’s beauty and goodness in even the everyday, boring monotony of a busy life.

Because the truth is that God’s beauty is everywhere, because God is everywhere. Unlike natural wonders or artistic creations, we cannot immediately see or hear His beauty, so I pray that this retreat has helped you to train the eye and ear of your soul to recognize Him in everything.

Because when you see God in everything, everything changes.
